Holloway-Polk House Historical and Cultural Center

One of the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in Jefferson Davis County. African-Americans purchased the land in the early 1900s and maintained a thriving self-contained community. The William R. Holloway House is the community’s only remaining antebellum structure.

The mission of the Holloway-Polk House Historical and Cultural center is to preserve the house and its historical significance, and to be a resource to schools and the general public.

Through guided tours and interaction with historical artifacts, public audiences can learn about life and culture of the local area during the mid 1800’s. Upon requests, staff is available to make presentations at schools and other public entities/groups
